The system, called “Touchless Call,” allows people who are wheelchair-bound or visually impaired to use the elevator without pushing any buttons.
The system works by installing sensors by the elevator door. When a wheelchair user approaches the elevator, all the user has to do is to wait for the elevator to arrive. Once the door opens, the user simply speaks out which floor he or she wants to go.
The company plans to offer the Touchless Call system to hospitals and nursing homes. It can also upgrade existing elevators.
