HighPoint RocketHybrid adapters combine SSD and HDD in virtual hybrid drives

HighPoint Technologies company has introduced a new line of products called Smart Hybrid. It includes a 6 Gbps SATA controller, made in the form of expansioncards for bus PCI Express 2.0. The manufacturer positions them as solutions for workstations and other applications, which demand high-performance disk subsystem, providing hybrid of SSD and HDD.

HighPoint RocketHybrid is based on Marvell 88SE9130 controllers and HyperDuo technology. These devices are designed to "promote the SSD in the mass market." According to the company, advanced hybrid solutions that combine bootable SSD and HDD, do not provide consistently high performance needed forgaming and multimedia editing applications.

With HighPoint RocketHybrid HBA can bring high performance SSD efficiency and large volume of HDD to one unit of storage - HyperDuo virtual drive. While the series includes two models: RocketHybrid 1220 and 1222. The first has two SATA 6 Gbps, and the second - two eSATA ports 6 Gbps. Deliveries of new products will start later this month.
